Events: Facebook Developer Garage, WordCamp China and Software Freedom Day

After the Olympics, the peak season of various events and meetup is coming. Here are three web-related events in these two weeks.

Facebook Developer Garage: Facebook Developer Garage Beijing is an unconference event to share ideas with local developers, look for partners on your latest project, see and participate in Facebook App demonstrations, seek technical support, or just network and socialize with other developers interested in the Facebook Platform.

It will be held in Tsinghua Science Park on Sept 13rd afternoon, starting at 13:00pm. Unfortunately, it seems the event is over-booked already, so registration has been closed. If any participant of the meetup would like to share your feeling on the event, guest blogger posts are always welcomed.

WordCamp China: WordCamp China is the biggest gathering of WordPress users and developers in China. In Sept, 2007, WordCamp Beijing was hosted in Beijing, which is the first ever WordCamp outside the US. WordCamp Beijing is renamed to WordCamp China, and will be hosted in Beijing and Shanghai in this year. The founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, will give keynote speeches in both cities. Other speakers include Nikolay Bachiyski, Hailin Wu, Webleon and Qirui Guo (a.k.a. Awflasher).

The Beijing session will be held on Sept 20th, Shanghai session will be in the afternoon of Sept 21st (1pm to 4pm) on Fudan University.

You can register here and pay the registration fee. (RMB30 for Beijing event, and RMB20 for Shanghai event). I have already registered the Beijing event, hope to see you there.

Beijing Software Freedom Day: This year’s Beijing Software Freedom Day will also be held on Sept 20th. Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software, coordinated by non-profit company Software Freedom International. The event is in the format of unconference, so you are welcomed to submit any topics related to free/open source software that you want to share with audience.

The event will be on Thoughtworks Beijing office near Dong Zhi Men. The registration will start at 12:30 pm. Its time conflicts with WordCamp, I hope I can still manage to join Beijing Software Freedom Day event in the afternoon.
