Events: Barcamp Beijing & New Era, New TV Seminar
BarCamp Beijing 2008 will be held Saturday, 6 December at Intel’s Beijing Offices at 8F of Raycom Infotech Park A.
BarCamp is an ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.
BarCamp begins with a brainstorming session during which the attendees determine the schedule for the day. All attendees are encouraged to give a demo, a session, a presentation, or help with one. All attendees are expected to be participants in some way. BarCampers may prepare in advance, but should arrive early to get a slot on the agenda.
BarCamp is open to anyone and everyone. This unique un-conference format now runs regularly around the globe, created by local organizers. With its open format, BarCamp attracts a diverse crowd, from engineers to artists, writers to entrepreneurs, allowing cross discipline knowledge sharing. Sessions are encouraged to be hands-on, how-to, creation oriented with lively demos, discussions, and a focus on interaction. Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

On Dec 5th, the day before Barcamp Beijing, there will be an Apache meet up at the same venue. Apache will run a 1 day free seminar on open source software.
On Dec. 10th and 11th, at 10th floor, South Tower of Raycom Infotech Park C, France Telecom Orange Lab Orange Labs Beijing is organizing a New Era, New TV seminar 2008.
By providing an opportunity to meet industry leaders from European and Asian markets, the seminar is designed to help practitioners to meet the challenges of offering revenue-driven interactive TV services with knowing what works, what has been profitable, and what the most promising alternatives are.
The seminar is organized by three sessions: the ecosystem evolution, the service evolution and the business model evolution. We aim at providing a unique venue to help attendees build relationships, exchange experience, evaluate strategies and form partnerships.
Speakers from BDA, PPStream, BesTV, UUSee, Tudou, and related governments will attend the seminar. If you are interested in it, you can register by sending email to Jing.xu@orange-ftgroup.com.
I created a Google Calendar called “China Tech Events“, and I will continue to add tech events in China or about China into this calendar. If you are using Google Calendar, feel free to add it into your calendar, or add its iCal address.
