Toodou Interviewed by Pacific Epoch
Pacific Epoch posted their interview with Gary Wang, founder of Toodou.com today(The interview is in English).
Toodou.com(土豆网, means potato in Chinese) was founded by Gary Wang, an overseas returnee and Bertelsmann veteran, and Marc van der Chijs from Netherlands in this April in Shanghai. Toodou is developing into one of the most popular podcasting and videocasting service providers in China just in several months, it now has about 130,000 registered users and over 16,000 podcasters.
Toodou has most of the key features of Web2.0, including tags, channel subscription (a proprietary software named iToodou Mini is required to receive update alerts), personal page, group, contact and Toodou badge to be used in blogs. Each registered users has 100MB of spaces to upload their audio and video podcast.
In the interview, Gary talked about the idea of Toodou, content censorship, users’ using behaviors, business model, important trends behind Toodou’s development, his future plans for the site, and why he is not worried about competitors.
