State of Chinese Podosphere (May 2006)
Jack Gu of PodLook released his second statistics on the development of Chinese podcast in his blog. (The first statistics is here)
Key findings of his report are as follows:
1. The number of Chinese podcasters amounted to over 33000, a 70% growth compared with four month ago. The number of podcast is approximately 145,000, nearly tripled in last four months.
2. Podcasters who produced at least 5 episodes increased to 15.6% from less than 8% four months ago.
3. Most of the podcasts (77%) are audio-based, representing a decrease from 83% four months ago.
4. About 23% of podcasts has been listened in Podlook.com for at least 10 times, increased from 15% four months ago.
5. Many new podcast hosting site are emerging in this four months, especially those who used to provide audio and/or video services.
6. The number of independent podcasters is few(2%), the same as four months ago.
