Netease To Introduce New Blog Service In Q3

When Netease announced its first quarter financial results, William Ding, founder and CEO of Netease, said that it will introduce new blog service in the third quarter of 2006. The new blog service is capable to support tens of millions of users and have better features, such as full text search and more user-friendly.

Since Netease has 470 million USD cash in hand, if Ding takes blogging service market seriously, Netease will be an very important player in this market and even change the competitive landscape.

At the same time, Tencent (QQ), who has the most popular IM tool in China, announced that its blog service, Q-zone, has attracted over 50 million registered users with about 23 million monthly active users and daily unique users of over 13 million. As Frank Dai said, Q-zone has rather complicated url, so mostly only their QQ-buddies would read it. But we must acknowledge that it is a key player and maybe winner in Chinese blogging market.
