SubscribeBaidu Index vs. Google Trends
Just one days after Google introduced Google Trends Chinese version, Baidu upgraded its Baidu Index service.
Baidu Index is not a new service, but it is an invited-only service previously. Now, though you still need an invitation to have premium service, all users can use it to know the search trends by Baidu’s users.
Let’s make a brief comparison between Google Trends and Baidu Index. The followings are screenshots of Baidu Index and Google Trends respectively.
1. Baidu Index allows users to choose the timeframe of one month, one quarter, half a year and a year, while in Google Trends, you can choose to see data of any month in last three years.
2. Both of them present news articles with charts, however, it seems Baidu only provides the articles related with the first keywords, but Baidu presents more news than Google.
3. You can only compare at most three keywords in Baidu Index.
4. Google provides data categorized by cities, countries and regions, and language, Baidu has no such function, so you can have more fun in Google than in Baidu.
5. Baidu can offer latest data, but Google can only presents data over one month ago.
These two products are quite similar, but Google’s is a little better than Baidu’s. Since Baidu is the most used Chinese search engines, Baidu Index is a must-have tool for PR person or those who want to understand China’s internet users better.
