The State of Chinese Podosphere (Aug. 2006)

Jack Gu of PodLook (profile) released his third statistics on the development of Chinese podcast. You can find previous report here and here.

Key findings of his report are as follows:

1. The market of China’s podcaster is increasing at exponential rate, because of the emergence of many video sharing sites. The number of China’s podcaster has amounted to over 100,000, a 300% growth in three months. The number of podcasts reached half a million, more than tripled than three months ago.

2. Podcasters who produced at least 5 episodes increased to about 30% from less than 15% in three months ago.

3. The number of video clips, mainly in flash format, exceeded that of audio files, almost two third of all podcasts are videos.

4. PodLook think in next several months, some of those big internet companies will enter this market.

5. The potential regulation may make the future of the industry very uncertain.
