5Sai: Buy Your MSN Messenger Name
5Sai, a MSN messenger users based social networking site, has an interesting service: MSN Messenger Name Advertising.
As all users of MSN Messenger know, you can customize your contact name in MSN Messenger then all your contacts will be able to see it. 5Sai regards it as an new advertising media to try to monetize it.
After registering in 5Sai, you have to add a 5Sai MSN bot as your contact. The bot will verify the number of your MSN contacts, only users whose MSN contacts exceed 50 will be qualified to apply for the service. Then, you can choose an advertising text to be included in your MSN Messenger name. Since 5Sai allows advertisers to specify target MSN users’ region, gender or age, MSN users can only choose from advertising pool which matches their profile.
If a user’s MSN Messenger is online for at least 3 hours during 9 am to 18 pm at working day, it will be regarded as a valid exposure. I think 5Sai’s MSN bot will check it. Once your valid exposure reaches the requirement set by advertisers, you will get the payment or be qualified for prize draw. The payment can be cash or gift.
I’m not sure whether MSN Messenger name will be an effective advertising channel for businesses. However, I like the innovative thinking of 5Sai and its efforts to finding viable business model among social networking sites.

Muito maneiro… idéia genial!

A great idea indeed.. but if they really want to success with this idea of advertising, they should have an English section..
Indeed, There should be an engrish
version of the site as migrane has said.
I do suppose that there are more chinese than engrish speakers, but even so, I think that engrish people would take it up more than chinese people would…

this fails… do they even realize you can force your contacts’ display name? once it (and if it ever) grows a little too big, forcing contact display names will be more common.
