Mulu100 - Edgeio launched Chinese version
Decentralized classifieds search engine Edgeio has launched its first localized website in China, Mulu100 (see press release). In the same time, Edgeio has finished $5 million series A financing.
Mulu100 is actually just a Chinese interface. The backend is still Edgeio. So Edgedirect and Edgesense works in the same way as in its main site.
Edgedirect provides four ways to list your item in mulu100. You can submit information directly from the website, which is the same as any other classifieds directory. You can also publish the information on your own blog first, then make it listed in mulu100 via a special listing tag. For enterprise customers, they can import their items in batch way though RSS and API.
Edgesense is a program similar to Google’s Adsense. Individual bloggers can make money by putting customized items list on their website. Mulu100 also distributes items to partners through this program. According to the press release, Beijing-based classifieds service Edeng.cn is its first local partner.
Its rivals include:
- Google Base: a closed and centralized system
- Kooxoo: Kooxoo is just a search engine. To submit items, you have to go to other classifies services.

Is there any local competitor?
Kooxoo is a Beijing-based local company. Google Base is a global service, so I treat it as local rival too. If anyone knows other companies that I missed, please hit the comment button.
[...] This reminds me similar service like Edgeio’s Chinese version, Mulu100, that we introduced back in last November. But after a little digging, I can safely announce that Mulu100 has entered dead pool. It seems that the service has never taken off. [...]
