B2B eCommerce Meets Yahoo Answer

AliAnswerAlibaba, the popular B2B ecommerce platform in China, rolled out a new ask&answer feature, AliAnswer (阿里帮帮, it don’t have a official English name so far) in last month.

As Yahoo Answer, AliAnswer is a platform for users to ask questions and get real answers from other users who would like to share their knowledge or experience. Users can ask any questions about commerce, such as “how to find foreign importers online?”, “How to negotiate with customers”. You can set virtual coins value for each question you asked, the contributor of the best answer chosen by question creator will earn the virtual coins. You can also earn points by solving others’ questions, then be entitled as “expert” in some specific fields based on the points you have.

Yahoo Answer gets remarkable success, so does Baidu Zhidao in China. Baidu Zhidao has answered more than 10 million questions asked by users in 18 months after it launched. I think it is a smart move for Alibaba to integrate the web 2.0 element, leverage the knowledge of its millions users and build a more useful ecommerce community.

After more than one year development, web 2.0 will begin to find its application in enterprise and B2B field, not only in consumer websites, therefore, I will not be surprised if more and more Chinese enterprise applications add web 2.0 elements in 2007.
