Afantee: Voice-based Google Answer
Afantee is a voice-based platform for users to sell their expertise and knowledge, you may think it as a voice-based Google Answer. (via wappblog)
If you want to be an expert to earn money in Afantee, you can register as a consultant for a specific area from internet and computing to law and foreign language, and set the price for your consulting service. The price of existing consultants ranges from 0.1 yuan to 1 yuan per minute. To ask for help from consultants, you need to install a VoIP software called “Small Donkey”, then you will be charged based on how long the consulting service is. Afantee will get 20% out from your payment as its revenue.
But I’m skeptical on this kind of service. Google Answer offers similar service as Afantee, of course, it is not real-time and not voice-based. Google Answer is not a successful mode and has been killed by Google, Yahoo Answer dominate the market. In China, Baidu Zhidao and Sina’s iAsk are two largest players in this Ask&Answer market, I don’t think the for-pay model will survive in China, esp. when most of Chinese use internet for entertainment and fun rather than for productivity.
If I have to find a solution for Afantee, I would suggest it help consultants to offer services which text-based Baidu Zhidao can not offer, such as oral language learning. And it may also be a good C2C online learning platform, if video chatting featuer is added.
Ps. Afantee is the name of a smart person in Chinese folktale.
