ChinaVenture: Summary of VC Investment in Video Sites

Following the summary of venture investment on social networking sites, ChinaVenture released another report on vc investment in video sites in China.

According to ChinaVenture, 17 Chinese online video sites, including p2p video service provider, online video on-demand and broadcasting service provider and video sharing sites, were reported to get funding of $95.5 million in total since 2004, the amount of investment reached its peak of $52.7 million in 2006. (see figure below)

4 out of 17 sites secured their series B funding, others just completed the first round. Among all 17 sites, 9 of them are video sharing sites, they also account for most of the investment in 2006, while most of the investmen in 2005 went to p2p video service providers.
