WordPress.com.cn Delete User Accounts Without Notices
In last week’s weekly wrap-up, we introduce a free wordpress hosting service in China, it has a great domain name, Wordpress.com.cn.
Many registered users of wordpress.com.cn found that their accounts have been deleted by the site without any notices. The deleted user name is available for re-registration. In blog of Zhuo Zuran, the domain name holder, he explained that inactive accounts will be deleted by system. But many users complaint that even for those who publish posts, the accounts have been deleted too. And an anomynous user said he got email from wordpress.com.cn, it is said that the site was set up by overseas Chinese in WordPress development team(is it true?) to target overseas Chinese, so they delete the registered users from mainland China.
I have no idea whether wordpress.com.cn has any relationship with Wordpress.com and don’t know the exact resons to delete the accounts, but to delete users accounts in such a short time after registration without any notice or reasonable explanation is really irresponsible and unacceptable.
Update: Matt confirmed that “They are not associated with WordPress.com in any way, shape, or form.”

One day after I registered my blog in wordpress.com.cn, I found I cannot log into the system because of wrong username, I lost my 3 posts and wasted 3-hour on configuring the setting-up parameters. It’s a terrible experience, I cannot believe it happened in such a well-known BSP. I like its technology, but its irresponsible service really make me feel bad.
the old bbs system used to ask the user to keep active like this.
the owner of wordpress did not mention wordpress.com.cn. if wordpress.com.cn is not official wordpress @china, then it is probably quite unfair to matt’s wordpress to say that “Its a terrible experience, I cannot believe it happened in such a well-known BSP”.
I got the same problem. I feel lucky because I have not put anything important on the blog.
I don’t think wordpress.com.cn has anything to do with wordpress.com. It could be a fraud.
They are not associated with WordPress.com in any way, shape, or form. I don’t know who’s running the .cn service. I would be wary.
If wordpress.com.cn is not run by wordpress.com, I thought wordpress should do something to pretect its rights and reputation at least. Bloggers like me are easy to misunderstand the relation between .cn and .com, and then criticized unfairly. Anyway, I would like to apoligize sincerely for my previous comments if what happened recently has nothing to do with wordpress.com.
If the service is a spin-off from wordpress.com, there is suppose to be some kind of announcement on wordpress.com’s site.
It looks like a fraud to me

[...] WordPress.com.cn came out in late 2005 as a FAKE official Chinese version of wordpress.com. The domain was registered in China by a Chinese and its server was located in Beijing. A couple weeks after they opened registration to the public, they deleted many user accounts without notices, which led to a large number of users criticising not only wordpress.com.cn but also wordpress.com. Matt then quickly responded that wordpress.com.cn was an imitation in no way associated with wordpress.com. The site then faded away silently. [...]
After I launched wordpress.com.cn; there have been many rumors about me and my website. The person who seems to be the most active one to make up all these rumors is someone named ilemoned. I don’t even know his real name. He wrote a few untruthful blogs about my website. He did not only insult my website but also insult me. He wrote three blogs in two days with mostly made up information.
Here is something I want to clarify; I don’t know this ilemoned. We have never spoken before. We never had contact through email or anything else. I have no idea what his intention is. He made false comments about wordpress.com.cn which he knew nothing about. Also, he pretended to be an official of wordpress.org.pretended Matt’s private secretary.
