Incesoft, established in 2001, mainly provides a product named Xiaoi, which is IM robot for MSN Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and QQ (the most popular IM tool in China). After adding Xiaoi into your IM tool as a contact, you can chat with Xiaoi in natural language to ask for weather, tv guide, map and sports news and other kinds of informatioin. Xiaoi has an ask & answer service, users are allowed to ask and answer questions insides IM tools, to build a Yahoo Answer-like community. Xiaoi also partners with many service providers to offer various service via Xiaoi robot, such as watching videos and auctions.
Xiaoi is the official partner of Windows Live Messenger in China, to provide persistent group chatting service for MSN Messenger users. Since QQ Group is very popular among QQ users, many MSN users are eager to have similar service based on MSN Messenger. BBqun, which we interviewed in last Nov is a rival of Xiaoi. But by working very closely with MSN, Xiaoi seems to have better position to compete in this market.
In the mean time, Xiaoi platform SDK provided by Incesoft makes it easy for developers to create their own IM robot, which is helpful for Xiaoi to build a healthy eco-system around Xiaoi and enhance its service.

[...] Also IM bots is something that China is good at. So you chat with a robot with your IM service. There is a company called Xiaoi that is the most well known IM bot in China. They are the official partner of Windows Live Messenger in China. So if you want to check the weather you just ask a question to the bot. They received plenty of VC funding, I believe IDT has invested in them. I have blogged about this a while ago. Actually in China there are also some companies that offer IM bots where you can order your lunch. You can just type in what kind of food you want for lunch and maybe half an hour later it is delivered. So you just ad this bot as a contact in your MSN. So then you just type in what you want to order. [...]
