GreatNews: The RSS Client Add Great Feature

Have you ever encounter the problem of tracking the reply to comments you made in blogs, or do you think it annoying to visit a blog from time to time to see whether there is any new comments? Yes, RSS feed for comment can help, but many blogwares don’t provide feed for comment and it is really troublesome to add so many comment feeds in your reader. GreatNews, the best rss reader client I ever used, now add a “Track Comment” option to help you solve those problems.

To track comments of any blog post, what you need to do is just to turn on comment tracking function by clicking “Track comments” under the post in the reader’s browser pane. Then you can read the comments in GreatNews just under the post(see screenshot below), and when new comments is available, the post will be marked as unread again for you to read the new comments.

Unfortunately, only blog feeds which have wfw:comment can be tracked, and it seems Movable Type’s feed don’t have this tag. It works fine for Wordpress, .Text and some other blogware. Currently, Bloglines sync channels can not be tracked, but Jack, developer of GreatNews, said it will be fixed in next build.

Besides this new one, GreatNews also has many attractive features, such as Gmail-like label, news watch, Bloglines sync, full page reading, add to del.icio.us/furl directly. For anyone who use a desktop rss reader, I think you should not miss GreatNews.
