RSS Reader Gougou Turns Into Xunlei Download Search Engine
Gougou, a formerly leading RSS reader has quietly entered dead pool. The domain name was sold to Xunlei. Now it’s branded as a download resource search engine of Xunlei. Techweb is reporting.
Gougou was founded by Li Xueling, former employee of Netease and Sohu.
Our former coverage of Gougou is here. Since the rising of Zhuaxia, Gougou has already lost its leading place. The founder also publicly transferred interest into Duowan, a game news portal and community.
According to Techweb, Gougou didn’t treat its RSS reader users well in this sudden transform. They didn’t have the chance to backup their reading list. (UPDATE: Gougou RSS reader is still accessible in this link, although we are not sure if user data is still available.)
Xunlei has received investment from Google China early this year. In the search result of Gougou, there’re links to Google search in the right sidebar and footbar. Also there’s Google suggest like feature in the search bar. These suggest that Google may have participated in the development of the search engine.

[…] Xunlei, a company that Google invested in earlier this year, bought the domain Gougou. Gougou, which used to be a RSS reader, now serves as a search engine for mp3’s, movies, torrents and everything else that is (illegally) downloadable. Google may be involved with Gougou as well reports the CWR Blog, “In the search result of Gougou, there’re links to Google search in the right sidebar and footbar. Also there’s Google suggest like feature in the search bar. These suggest that Google may have participated in the development of the search engine.” […]
[…] Now QQ has taken one step further by launching QQ Xuanwo at x.qq.com. This is similar to Xunlei’s GouGou resource search engine. But it is a walled garden. You can only find resources shared by other Cyclone users. […]
