Pica to Partner with MSN on Mobile IM

PicaPica, a mobile social networking application and service provider backed by Bluerun Venture and IDGVC, announced to partner with MSN on mobile im service.

Pica means Personalized Information Communication Assistant, its most important feature is its ability to support communication with your buddies of QQ and MSN in your mobile handsets via its Pica application. Pica support im chatting between PC and wireless handsets. It also let users to share photos, files by their mobile phones and make friends. But early this year, QQ sued Pica for improper competition, and Pica was sentenced to pay QQ RMB 2 million.

In mobile im market, Pica has to face challenge from mobile QQ, not mention potential competiton from Chinese telecom carriers, since China Mobile has launched its Fetion strategy, and China Unicom and Netcom both planed to enter this market.

It is expected that Pica’s partnership with MSN will make them to better interoperate with each other to face the fierce competition in the market.
