Youtie: Let’s Keep In Touch By Sharing Funny Pages
Beijing based Youtie is a social network for recommending interesting web pages. Instead of helping you make new friends, it is more of a new way to connect with your existing friends.
The main feature of the service is bookmarking. Not like other social bookmarking services, which are mainly for you to remember what you have found, Youtie’s bookmarking service is absolutely for sharing.
The aim of the service is to establish a new requirement: To keep connect with friends by sharing interesting web pages in a central place. Currently people are doing this with Blog, Twitter, email, IM, etc.
All the bookmarks you submitted has tight access control. You can make it public, share with all friends or certain friends and private. You can also write diary and send direct message to other users within the system.
Youtie is partly similar to Youyulu. Youyulu also has a gossip news sharing feature, but it’s mainly for you to track your friends’ blogs.
One thing I found Youtie doing well is that they are checking new registered users and leave the first comment on their profile. Maybe this is because there aren’t many new users yet. But it is always a right thing to do to live in your product and make friends with your users.
The following is a comic about what Youtie is. If only every startup can tell what you are in such a simple and clear way.
