Friends By Outline: Try On Open SNS

Robin Lu made a wordpress plugin (with screenshots)called “Friend by Outline”, a trial based on concepts like FOAF(Friend of a friend) and OPML. By the file named “outline”, you can learn a friend’s friend, including content like books, movie and to-do-list, thus forming an open SNS. This wordpress plugin primarily provided three functions:generating an outline file based on information that you gave, adding link tag into html and detecting friend’s outline file. Jack, founder of Podlook, the podcast directory website, wrote on his blog what he considered to be the website to which Podlook make reference in design and function:Flickr, odeo, igooi(Chinese Social Bookmarking site that made by Jack himself), Google, Del.icio.us and Bloglines. He emphasised that Podlook is not a copycat but it will learn from such websites.
