Sohu’s New Web Messenger and 3.0 Product Line

Yesterday, Sohu formally announced its 3.0 product line. Besides video sharing, other two important components are web messenger, called Little Note, and Camp. Little Note and Camp both first launched in March. These two products take important roles in integration of all other Sohu products.

Sohu Little NoteLittle Note, which just rolled out a new version yesterday, is a centralized inline message system for different types of Sohu products as well as a web based chatting tool. In any other Sohu products, there’s little icon beside user ID, where you can start live chatting or leave offline messages. Chatting history is supported. You can manage buddy list, but you can also chat with any stranger in the chat bar with a common topic. Live interaction is a common requirement for any integrated services like Sina and Netease. So far, Sohu’s solution seems to be standing out.

Camp is not a separate product. It’s just a private tab in Sohu blog. But it’s a centralized entrance for all kinds of Sohu products. It’s clearly Sohu’s strategy is to make Sohu Blog a start point of all other services. This certainly is useful. Without it, lots of services are not used just because people cannot remember them. The tab is customizable. You can rearrange the order and turn off certain modules that you don’t really use.
