Leeuu Secured Funding from Redpoint Ventures

RC LogoLeeuu.com, the developer and operator of virtual community game Romantic Chateau Online(RC), just announced its several million USD funding from Redpoint Ventures.

RC, which just launched its private beta on July, aims to be a 2D version of Second Life, but according to a Sina’s report, they will start to develop 3D version RC by the end of this year.

As in Second Life, in RC, you can have an customizable avatar persona, build your own house, have social networking with other players. But based on my limited knowledge on virtual community and my preliminary research on Leeuu’s website, I think Leeuu’s RC is more like a virtual game, instead of an open community as Second Life. For example, in RC, you need to plant or mine in order to have something to trade for money.

The founder of Leeuus previous worked in Kele8.com, a casual game platform, therefore, besides RC, Leeuu also operate a casual game platform.

The most famous online virtual community in China should be Hipihi, it is said Hipihi has closed its first round of funding, the amount of funding is between $7 million to 10 million.

Hi, Eric, the recent funding of Hipihi has not been disclosed, so I have no idea who is the investor so far. Yes, they got seed funding from some angels and GCIG.
