Comsenz Acquired EcShop
Comsenz, the leading open source community software developer and operator in China, announced on August 21st that it has acquired EcShop, an open source online shopping platform developer.
Comsenz, a Sequoia China invested company, mainly provides open source softwares to allow users to build their own bbs, blog, social networks and etc. The most famous offering of Comsenz is Discuz! bbs software, which is the most used bbs software in China. If you search “powered by Discuz” in Google, you can find about 4.26 million results. Its X-Space enables you to build your own social network sites, including blogging, photo, friends, groups and other features. The Supersite system is a CMS platform for you to build a content-rich front page based on Discuz and X-Space. Comsenz also operate 5d6d.com to provide bbs hosting services.
ECShop is a popular open source online shops system, which was established in 2006 by Paul Gao. It has attracted over 10,000 seller to build their online shops on EcShop system.
In latest version of Discuz! and X-Space, Comsenz has tried to integrated some e-commerce features into these systems. Now after acquisition, Ecshop will be a good supplement for Comsenz’s product line, and further strengthen Comsenz’s position in the market.
