Taotao Now Helps You to Record Your Expenditures

Taotao, the Twitter-like service from Tencent, keeps improving its features after launched about one month ago. Today, the blog of Tencent Labs announced an new interesting update of Taotao.com, now you can use Taotao to record your expenditures conveniently.

If you want to make a record of your expenditure or incomes in Taotao.com, you can just add “[帐]”(which means account book) at the beginning of your input, then the update will only be visible to you, and you can see a list of all of your financial records in your Taotao webpage.

Well, it is not a big innovation, and the function is still quite simple, it just records what you input, but cannot differentiate expenditure and income. However, I think it is an interesting experiment of the microblogging application. Since Taotao enables QQ users to write down their quick thoughts, mood, and activities in a simple and convenient way, by adding some shortcut features, it may make the information inputed more structural and well organized, then increased its value to users.

Besides it, I would like to mention another new feature of Taotao, that is Taotao widget which enable you to show your Taotao in your blog sidebar. Even if widget is becoming very popular in US, China’s big Internet companies are reluctant to embrace it. But it is changing gradually, before Taotao widget, Netease’s Yodao search engine also release a blog widget to display some statistics of your blog. I wish more big companies will start to take widget strategy seriously, instead of trying to retain users in a closed system.

    Today I try using twitter-like service,fanfou.I donnot know which to choose.taotao is also a good service.

    that’s a good idea of differentiating expenditure and income, maybe we also can add the statistic feature to extend the fuction of [账].
    by the way, the calendar is also our new feature that different from other twitter-like apps, and we will release some official news daoke(the user of taotao),such as the financial new, sports news, entertainment news etc. recently, then the other users can add these daoke as friends to receive the related news instantly.
