SubscribeFirst Look: Novoking Virtual World Private Test
Novoking, the new 3D virtual world in China, just started its private alpha test today. In this first round test which is expected to last two months, about 500 invitations will be sent out. Another 1,000 residents will be invited to join its next round test before it launches it public beta test about four months later.
My friend Wang Ruibin kindly invited me to participate its private alpha test. When I tried to download Novoking client, I’m really surprised to know that the client has 334M, while Hipihi’s client is 50M and Second Life’s client is 33M (win version). So it seems Novoking may shift more computing burden to client PC rather than on server. After installation, it occupied more than 600M in my hard driver.
After half an hour downloading its client and several minutes scanning for updates when opening it (the updates scanning really drives me crazy), I finally became the resident of Novoking world. But after testing it, I just found all these waitings are worthwhile.
In this alpha test, the system has already allowed users to customized their avatars, besides default items, you can also buy items in its shops. As in other virtual world, you can walk, run, fly, and transfer to another location instantly by using map, you can do various pre-defined actions, such as hug, being crazy, etc. You can chat with other users, but it is really not easy to find other users for social networking in this private test period, you may feel a little lonely.
If you want to find someone for chatting, you should check out the well-established cafe, bar, disco, shopping mall, restaurant and parks. I have a happy dancing together with Wang Ruibin in Novoking’s disco, Novoking provides about 40 kinds of dancing styles, I think that should be the best dance in my whole life.
Every user will have a personal space, i.e. home, in Novoking land, you can use the ready-made furnitures or buy furniture items to decorate it inside.(check the screenshot below) Click on others’ username, you can enter their spaces, and leave messages to them. That’s more convenient than other virtual world products, but if you want to build your own buildings, you should go to a creation land in this test version. Novoking also support uploading your 3D models created by 3DMax or Maya.
As we said before, Novoking plans to design the virtual world in fashion and cool style. Based on my first day’s experience, I believe Novoking would be a very fun virtual world, it may reflect your first life very well. If you follow the development of 3D virtual world, you should not miss this Novoking world.

I have not been as fortunate so far with my attempt to test it out.
I am getting an error message when trying to run it.

Hi, SuezanneC Baskerville, Novoking packages its setup file with Ageia PhysX drivers. The error page said there is something wrong in initiating PhysX, so maybe you can try to re-install Novoking.

I did reinstall Novoking, after installing an old version of Aegia physics, and the installation process went alright.
Unfortunately now when I log in I get error messages.

Any help you can could would be greatly appreciated, including the proper email address to contact at Novoking.
The first one is “wrong username or password”, you should use the your registered name to log in, rather than nick name in uWorld.
The second one is time out error message.
