Yodao Releases Related Blog Posts Widget

The most popular feature of search engine Sphere.com is its “Sphere It” related content widget, it shows blog and media content related to your posts when clicking on the widget icon. Yodao, the search engine by Netease, released a similar widget for Wordpress users.

After installment, it will analyze the blog post and then take Yodao blog search engine to find and display up to 5 blog posts related to each of your blog entry. But different from Sphere.com which require your readers to click on the widget icon, this widget from Yodao will show related blog posts just under the blog content. You can change the plugin option to only search your own blog for related posts, set the time frame for related blog posts, and tweak the color of the widget.

It is the very first related content widget for blogs. I installed the plugin in my Chinese blog, the quality of related posts is acceptable, even though sometimes it is almost irrelevant. Sphere has partnered with many main stream media, such as Time.com, to incorporate its related content widget, it is quite helpful for readers to know the discussion among blogosphere on current events. We will wait to see when will Netease add this widget into its news portal.

Previously, Yodao rolled out another blog widget, blog wizard, which can show some statistics of your blog, such as average length of your posts.
