It has been rumored for a long time that Baidu will launch a finance channel, since Baidu started to recruit finance editor. Today Baidu announced this new service: Baidu Finance.
Similar to Google Finance, Baidu Finance offers an easy way for you to search for various financial products, including stocks listed in China Mainland or Hong Kong, mutual funds, bonds, trusts and others financial products, along with real-time stock quotes, charts, company-related news, relevant user-generated content from Baidu’s communities and fundamental financial data. You can also create and maintain your portfolio of stocks and mutual funds.
Currently, if you search for a name of a public company or a stock ticker number in Baidu web search, it will return stock quotes together with a link to Hexun. I think it will soon change the link from Hexun to Baidu Finance.
As previously launched Baidu Games, Baidu Finance also integrated various Baidu products, including Baidu News, Baidu Postbar, Baidu Index and Baidu Zhidao. To leverage content from Baidu’s popular community, and integrated them with Baidu News and powerful search technology will become the standard procedure for Baidu to launch other kinds of information channel. In future, we may see Baidu launch more news channel on this similar model.
