Best4C Adds Online Slides Sharing Service
In October, we profiled Best4C, an online collaborative diagram tool from Lenovo Labs, it recently launched an online slides sharing service called Best4C Show. (tip by wappblog)
Several hundreds of Chinese startups rush for copying video sharing sites, but it seems the idea of documents sharing has no copycat in China until Best4C Show.
If compared with Slideshare.net or other similar overseas services, Best4C Show is still in its alpha stage, it only allows you to upload your powerpoint files to share online. It does not provide widgets for you to embedded uploaded ppt into your blogs or websites, you cannot leave comments, there is no social networking features so far and it is buggy. That’s understandable, since it is just a new service in labs.
Besides ppt sharing, Best4C has a online slideshow tool as well, which allows you to create and edit slideshow online. As I can remember, it is also the first Chinese online office tool. I don’t know why WPS Office, an office suite by Kingsoft, does not develop online version to compete with Microsoft Office. Maybe they are just too busy with online gaming development, or maybe they think the market for online office collaboration tools in China has yet emerged.

I am waiting for this space to take off, if it ever takes off. But like you said, it’s untapped and everyone’s too busy focusing on games and social networks.
Maybe this could be the first real innovation in China that could possibly export overseas. The way people and businesses do things over there is of a much quicker pace (I’m assuming it’s very similar to HK) compared to the slower pace in the US. Or… maybe not.
