Finding Advertising Value of Chinese Blogs

Following Milliondollarhomepage, many kinds of similar ideas can be found from time to time. Here is one of the latest. Chen Bin (aka. Icebin), a Chinese blogger, now intends to sell the pixel on header of his blog for cost of RMB 100 Yuan per year per pixel. Not sure the traffic of Icebin’s blog, but his feedburnered feed has about 600 subscribers.

How many of the pixel on his blog will be sold finally? Maybe it is not important to Icebin, the buzz on his idea has generated enough attention and traffic to his blog already, and it is also a helpful attempt to explore the advertising value of blogs.

Regarding the advertising on blog, Keso, the most famous IT blogger in China, should be the first blogger to monetize his blog traffic. Hexun placed an advertisement on its personal portal service in Keso’s blog. CCTV, the largest national television broadcaster, also reported this blog advertising case last night.

But ads on Keso’s blog is just a very special and uncopyable case, because China’s longtail online advertising market is still in its infancy. So does the development of blog network. Blogku Media, operated by Edwyn Chan from Hong Kong, is the first commercial blog network in China. It currently owns 8 blogs, covering movies, cartoon, games, digital gadgets and others. But you can hardly find any advertisements in all those blogs.

Who will be the first to explore the advertising value of millions of Chinese blogs? or should we continue to count on Google Adsense?

    adsense is unfriendly to chinese blog and don’t bring much revenue… i don’t see any ad service really provide a ncice channel for chinese site, perhaps we can only sell our own ads
